Bus Portal
Bus Portal
The Computer Aided Dispatch is a data analysis administrative web portal for public transit coordinators to check real-time transit vehicle data, operational information, and assign bus itinerary and routes. It delivers information taken from automated passenger counting, telematics and automatic vehicle locations and real-time passenger information.
Portal Redesign
A redesign was needed so it will become sustainable for future changes, addition of new features, and integration of different transit systems. Also to ensure it is easy to use and understand.
redesigned information architecture
I performed a Heuristics evaluation of the old portal to identify any user experience problems by first defining who my users are and the tasks they will perform to achieve their goals.
Users: Public transportation coordinators that have a mid to low range of technological capabilities, ages from 40 to 60. Their goals are to make sure buses are running smoothly on routes, and to manage vehicles and drivers.
Tasks: 1. View multiple vehicle status. 2. Tweak bus schedule. 3. Tweak bus stops.
As I tried to navigate through the portal to perform listed tasks, I laid out the old sitemap on paper and took notes on usability errors and improvements that can be made. Then redesigned the site’s information architecture.
